How do I submit a request to update my image source?

Reach out to VAA and let them know about your interest in providing vendor imagery! To get started you will need to share which departments or product types this change would impact. We will then provide you with a Sharepoint  upload link where example imagery can be dropped. This example imagery should be relevant to the product types, and should include a minimum of 5 different items showing product flat-lays, on-figure and lifestyle.

What happens next?

Our internal Vendor Asset Council will review and confirm if imagery has been approved or declined. 

Who is the Vendor Asset Council?

The Vendor Asset Council is a cross-functional committee of members and leaders from various teams within the Nordstrom.com organization. It was created in 2017 to create guidelines with the sell shot images and provide our customers with a consistent image experience.

What does the Council do? 

Although we aim to maintain consistency, we know there is a need to be flexible for certain situations. The Vendor Asset Council provides a forum to intake change and exception requests to image standards and debate, decide, and declare outcomes. Requests and council approval are required for the following:
  • New brand who wants to use vendor images
  • Change of asset source

What are the requirements?

Vendor provided imagery must meet our technical general image requirements and follow our product specific requirements.

What happens once you're approved?

VAA will begin sending an Assets Request that will include:

1.     Image request sheet listing style information for imagery needed

2.     Upload link to drop imagery into

3.     Product attribute file for copy information

Here are more details on our image submission process. 

*Please note that part of the approval of changing to vendor supplied imagery does include the requirement of uploading imagery into our Sharepoint links and filing out PA on our internal form. We are unable to accommodate outside links/forms such as Wetransfer, Box, etc… or pulling from outside portals. We also are unable to accept any external attribute sheets.

If declined, VAA will provide reasoning as to why the council has denied your request and we will process with shooting imagery in our in-house photo studio. Please see How To Provide Samples for more information.
